
Texas Orthopedics is excited to announce our physicians who have been recognized as 2026 Top Doctors by Austin Monthly magazine. These doctors were selected during a peer-nomination process by their medical colleagues in the community. After being chosen, the final selection team does additional research and fact-checking to ensure these providers are practicing, properly licensed, and in good standing.
The following Texas Orthopedics doctors have been chosen this year:
Kenneth Bunch, MD – Board-certified in Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation (PM&R), also called a Physiatrist, and has a special interest in interventional spine, musculoskeletal, and electrodiagnostic medicine.
Robert Foster, MD – Board-certified orthopedic surgeon with fellowship training in hand surgery. Dr. Foster specializes in minimally-invasive carpal tunnel surgery, complex hand reconstruction surgery, sports injuries, upper extremity arthritis and trauma care.
Brian Hardy, MD – Board-certified, fellowship-trained orthopedic surgeon. Dr. Hardy specializes in hand, elbow and shoulder surgery, with special interests in minimally-invasive endoscopic carpal tunnel surgery and all fractures of the upper extremities.
Vishal Kancherla, DO – Board-certified Interventional Physiatrist and fellowship-trained spine specialist. His expertise lies in restoring function and optimizing performance in those patients with spine, joint, muscle and nerve pain.
Robert Koval, MD – Rheumatologist who is board-certified in both Internal Medicine and Rheumatology. At Texas Orthopedics, he specializes in treating autoimmune and inflammatory disorders that affect the bones, muscles, and joints.
David Laverty, MD – Fellowship-trained, board-certified surgeon specializing in orthopedic trauma. As a trauma surgeon, Dr. Laverty takes care of a range of orthopedic injuries including fractures, sprains and strains, to the most complex orthopedic injuries, many with multiple fractures and soft tissue injuries.
John McDonald, Jr, MD – Fellowship-trained, board-certified surgeon specializing in hips, knees, shoulder arthroscopy, and Sports Medicine, as well as general orthopedics.
Ai Mukai, MD – Board-certified, fellowship-trained Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation physician (or Physiatrist) with Texas Orthopedics. Dr. Mukai focuses on non-surgical musculoskeletal and spine care using conservative modalities such as physical therapy and image-guided injections.
O. Atilla Onan, MD – Board-certified orthopedic surgeon and fellowship-trained spine surgeon. He specializes in surgery of the cervical and lumbar spine.
Mark Parrella, MD – Board-certified orthopedic surgeon specializing in the complex treatment of orthopedic trauma injuries. He uses conservative options to treat conditions such as sprains, strains, fractures, and derangements.
Vilas Saldanha, MD – Board-certified orthopedic surgeon with additional fellowship training in Adult Joint Reconstruction and Orthopedic Trauma.
Blake Schultz, MD – Board-certified orthopedic surgeon with additional fellowship training in orthopedic trauma. He specializes in complex fracture care, difficult-to-treat injuries, Anterior Total Hip Replacements and Shoulder Replacements.
Jason Somogyi, MD – Board-certified, fellowship-trained orthopedic surgeon specializing in hand and comprehensive upper extremity care, with a special interest in minimally-invasive endoscopic carpal tunnel surgery and all fractures of the upper extremities.
Daniel Stewart, MD – Board-certified, fellowship-trained orthopedic surgeon specializing in advanced microsurgical procedures to treat hand, wrist, and elbow injuries and conditions.
Ryan Taylor, MD – Board-certified, fellowship trained orthopedic surgeon who specializes in the treatment of traumatic orthopedic injuries of the upper and lower extremities. He is also certified in both robotic total hip and total knee replacements.
Greg Westmoreland, MD – Board-certified orthopedic surgeon and fellowship trained Sports Medicine physician specializing in treating shoulders and knees in addition to general orthopedics.
