Abed Abdelaziz, MD

Abed Abdelaziz, MD, is a Sports Medicine fellowship-trained orthopedic surgeon who specializes in knee, shoulder, and elbow surgery at Texas Orthopedics.

Dr. Abdelaziz completed his undergraduate studies at the University of Texas at Austin with Honors. He earned his MD and MPH from the McGovern Medical School at UTHealth Houston. Following graduation, he returned to Austin and completed his orthopedic surgery residency at the University of Texas Dell Medical School. He then went on to complete his fellowship training at Columbia University in New York City.

During his training, Dr. Abdelaziz served as an Assistant Team Physician for athletes at the high school, college, and professional level, including coverage for the New York Yankees. He also volunteered his time to provide medical team coverage at large sporting events and fundraisers such as the F1 Grand Prix (Austin), Susan B. Komen Race for the Cure, and the Livestrong Challenge.

Whether professional or recreational athletes, Dr. Abdelaziz’s focus is to help patients get back to their activities. He prides himself on nonoperative management when possible, including the use of biologics when indicated. Consultations are patient-centered, and decisions based on the latest evidence.

When not on the sidelines, Dr. Abdelaziz roots for the San Antonio Spurs, Dallas Cowboys, and all things UT. He enjoys spending time with his wife Sarah and their daughter, golfing, and traveling.
