Dear Patients,
After 37 years of caring for patients and families in our community, I will be retiring from my orthopedic surgery practice effective December 31, 2025. As I prepare for this next chapter, I want to extend my deepest gratitude for the trust and confidence you have placed in me over the years.
It has been one of the greatest honors of my life to serve as your physician. I have been continually humbled by the resilience, courage, and determination shown by the patients I have had the privilege to treat. Thank you for allowing me to be part of your care—whether guiding you through an injury, supporting you through recovery, or helping you return to the activities you love.
Texas Orthopedics will continue to provide the high-quality orthopedic care you expect. Your medical records will remain securely on file and any member of our orthopedic team will be available to assist you with ongoing or future needs. Dr. Peter M. Garcia, Jr., is a board-certified orthopedic surgeon with more than 30 years experience in his field. Dr. Garcia practices general orthopedics and particularly enjoys managing trauma and sports injuries. For the convenience of patients, he speaks fluent English and Spanish.
He earned his bachelor of science in biology from the University of Texas at Austin and his medical degree from Texas Tech University School of Medicine. He completed his orthopedic residency at William Beaumont Army Medical Center, Fort Bliss, TX. He is distinguished as a Fellow of the American Academy of Orthopaedic Surgeons (FAAOS).
He serves on all area hospital medical staffs and was formerly orthopedic chief at Brackenridge Hospital. He also serves as a designated doctor for the Texas Workers’ Compensation Commission.
Dr. Garcia has been voted by his peers to the Texas Monthly Super Doctors list from 2009-2020 and the Super Doctors Hall of Fame in 2021 through 2025. He has also been recognized as an Austin Monthly Top Doctor in 2021 and 2022 .
Dr. Garcia is married and the father of four daughters. He enjoys exercising, playing tennis, getaway weekends, watching movies, food and music festivals and spending time with his wife and daughters.

Meet Victoria Cruz, RN, MSN, APRN, ACNS-BC, RNFA
Clinical Nurse Specialist for Dr. Peter Garcia
Victoria Cruz, RN, MSN, APRN, ACNS-BC, RNFA is a board-certified adult clinical nurse specialist and surgical assistant for Dr. Peter Garcia. Vicky has worked with Dr. Garcia for over 10 years. She graduated from the University of Texas at Austin School of Nursing. She enjoys running and other exercise activities. Dr. Garcia and Vicky have worked as one unit in the diagnosis and treatment of their patients since 2007.
