Greg L. Westmoreland, MD
Board-Certified Orthopedic Surgeon
Dr. Greg Westmoreland is a board-certified orthopedic surgeon and fellowship trained Sports Medicine physician in South and Northwest Austin. He specializes in treating shoulders and knees in addition to general orthopedics.
Dr. Westmoreland grew up in the Houston area and graduated Magna Cum Laude and Phi Beta Kappa from Baylor University with a degree in Biology. Dr. Westmoreland attended the University of Texas Southwestern Medical School in Dallas, graduating first in his class and was inducted into the Alpha Omega Honor Society, recognizing those who have graduated in the top 10% of their medical school class.
Dr. Westmoreland completed his orthopedic residency at Emory University in Atlanta, Georgia, in 2000. Training at Grady Memorial Hospital, a level one trauma center, he gained vast experience in all types of orthopedic fractures and learned valuable lessons in the conservative treatment of orthopedic problems. In 2001 Dr. Westmoreland completed a Sports Medicine fellowship at the Knoxville Orthopedic Clinic where he served as one of the team physicians for the University of Tennessee. His fellowship training focused on arthroscopic treatment of shoulder and knee problems, as well as shoulder and knee replacement for arthritic conditions.
Dr. Westmoreland always considers a conservative approach to treatment first. His goal is to return the patient back to the level of activity they desire. If surgery is necessary, Dr. Westmoreland recognizes the trust a patient places in him , and he takes great care in walking each patient through the entire process, from pre-operative evaluation through post-operative recovery.
Dr. Westmoreland and his wife Kristi have three teenage sons. In his free time Dr. Westmoreland loves hunting, fishing, and golfing with his family and watching his boys play sports. Each fall he provides on-the-field coverage for Regents School of Austin.

Meet Gabriel Petty, MPAS, PA-C
Gabriel Petty is a native Texas and has been in clinical practice as a physician assistant, specializing in orthopedics and sports medicine since 2009. He graduated from Austin College in Sherman, Texas with his undergraduate degree in Biochemistry prior to earning his Masters of Physician Assistant Studies (MPAS) from the University of North Texas Health Science Center in Fort Worth.
Mr. Petty is an active member of the American Academy of Physician Assistants, the Texas Academy of Physician Assistants, the Central Texas PA Society, and the Society of Physician Assistants in Orthopedic Surgery.
Gabriel enjoys working with patients of all ages and activity levels. He has a special interest in patient education. He enjoys spending time with each patient, so that they truly understand their condition, and how to prevent future injury, if possible. He is also well versed in conservative therapeutic treatment options for your orthopedic condition. Gabriel enjoys spending time with this family, hiking, skiing, and traveling outside of treating patients.
