Dr. David Laverty of Texas Orthopedics is a fellowship-trained, board-certified surgeon specializing in orthopedic trauma. As a trauma surgeon, Dr. Laverty takes care of a range of orthopedic injuries including fractures, sprains and strains, to the most complex orthopedic injuries, many with multiple fractures and soft tissue injuries. It is Dr. Laverty’s job to ensure your injuries are addressed promptly and correctly, with or without surgery.
Along with partner Dr. Drake Borer, Dr. Laverty is the most tenured orthopedic trauma surgeon in Central Texas with over a decade of experience caring for injured patients at the regions only Level 1 trauma center, University Medical Center Brackenridge.
In addition to his orthopedic surgery practice in Austin, Dr. Laverty teaches medical students and residents. He also serves as Chief Orthopedic Surgeon for Circuit of The Americas, Austin’s home to annual Formula 1 and Motor GP events as well as X Games Austin.
Dr. Laverty is an active member of the teaching faculty of Dell Medical School’s Orthopaedic Surgery Residency Program where he is working to advance the field of musculoskeletal care and training the next generation of physicians and surgeons. To learn more, please click here.
Dr. Laverty was awarded Physician of the Year in 2007 at University Medical Center Brackenridge. Most recently, Dr. Laverty was recognized locally by his peers as a 2021 Austin Monthly Top Doctor.
Dr. Laverty is happily married to his wife Leslie, and they spend all their spare time raising their two children.
