Dr. Randall Schultz is a board-certified, fellowship-trained Orthopedic Surgeon specializing in knee and hip surgery. His clinical focus includes computer-navigated knee replacement and direct anterior hip replacement.
A native Austinite, Dr. Schultz graduated from Austin High School, where he was the starting varsity quarterback for four years. During his high school career, he set multiple Austin High and AISD passing records and was inducted into the Maroon Society as a graduating senior. He went on to earn a football scholarship to Rice University.
After several knee injuries ended his football career, Dr. Schultz transferred to the University of Virginia, where he completed his undergraduate studies. He received his medical degree from Baylor College of Medicine in Houston, followed by a General Surgery internship and Orthopedic Surgery residency at Dartmouth in Hanover, New Hampshire. While at Dartmouth, he also earned a Master’s Degree in Outcomes Research and Evidence-Based Medicine.
He completed his fellowship in Sports Medicine and Adult Joint Reconstruction in San Antonio under the mentorship of Dr. Jesse DeLee, gaining extensive experience in both joint preservation and replacement techniques.
Dr. Schultz has published scientific papers and authored book chapters in the fields of sports medicine and joint replacement surgery. He is board-certified by the American Academy of Orthopaedic Surgeons, a member of the American Orthopaedic Society for Sports Medicine, and has served for eight years as an affiliate faculty member in the Joint Replacement Training Program at The University of Texas Dell Medical School.
He previously served as Chief of Orthopaedics at Seton Medical Center Austin and as head of the Seton Network Orthopedic service line.
Outside of medicine, Dr. Schultz enjoys spending time with his two daughters, playing golf, hunting, and staying active in the Austin community.

Joy Mitchell, PA-C, is the Physician Assistant for Dr. Randall Schultz. Joy earned her Master of Science in Physician Assistant Studies from Bethel College in Tennessee. Joy is a member of the American Academy of Physicians Assistants, Texas Academy of PAs, and Physician Assistants in Orthopedic Surgery. She is board certified by the National Commission on the Certification of Physician Assistants.
