
W. Randall Schultz, MD

Dr. Schultz specializes in and is fellowship trained in orthopaedic sports medicine and total joint replacement. He has a special interest in minimally invasive knee and hip replacements, computer navigated surgery, and resurfacing hip arthroplasty.
Dr. Schultz is a native Austinite and graduate of Austin High School where he was the starting varsity quarterback for four years before earning a football scholarship to Rice University. At Austin High, Dr. Schultz set Austin High and AISD records in passing yardage and was inducted in the Maroon Society as graduating senior. After several knee injuries sidelined his football career, Dr. Schultz graduated from the University of Virginia. Dr. Schultz attended medical school at Baylor College of Medicine in Houston and completed his general surgical internship and orthopaedic surgery residency training at Dartmouth in Hanover, New Hampshire. While at Dartmouth, Dr. Schultz also earned a Master’s Degree in Outcomes Research and Evidence Based Medicine.
Dr. Schultz enjoys the academic pursuit of medicine and has published several publications in the field of ACL reconstruction. During his sports medicine fellowship, Dr. Schultz gained vast experience in treating athletic injuries at all levels, from high school to the professional level. He currently volunteers his time on the side lines of Austin High School football games as their official sports medicine physician. Dr. Schultz has two daughters and enjoys hunting, golf, and sports of all kinds.
Dr. Schultz is board-certified by the American Academy of Orthopaedic Surgeons and is a member of the American Orthopaedic Society of Sports Medicine.
Dr. Randall Schultz is Chief of Orthopaedics at Seton Northwest Hospital and is an active member of the teaching faculty of Dell Medical School’s Orthopaedic Surgery Residency Program where he is working to advance the field of musculoskeletal care and training the next generation of physicians and surgeons. Joy Mitchell, PA-C, is the Physician Assistant for Dr. Randall Schultz. Joy earned her Master of Science in Physician Assistant Studies from Bethel College in Tennessee. Joy is a member of the American Academy of Physicians Assistants, Texas Academy of PAs, and Physician Assistants in Orthopedic Surgery. She is board certified by the National Commission on the Certification of Physician Assistants.
