Dr. Westmoreland completed his orthopedic residency at Emory University in Atlanta, Georgia, in 2000. Training at Grady Memorial Hospital, a level one trauma center, he gained vast experience in all types of orthopedic fractures and learned valuable lessons in the conservative treatment of orthopedic problems. In 2001 Dr. Westmoreland completed a Sports Medicine fellowship at the Knoxville Orthopedic Clinic where he served as one of the team physicians for the University of Tennessee. His fellowship training focused on arthroscopic treatment of shoulder and knee problems, as well as shoulder and knee replacement for arthritic conditions.
Dr. Westmoreland always considers a conservative approach to treatment first. His goal is to return the patient back to the level of activity they desire. If surgery is necessary, Dr. Westmoreland recognizes the trust a patient must place in him , and he takes great care in walking each patient through the entire process, from pre-operative evaluation through post-operative recovery.
Dr. Westmoreland and his wife Kristi have three teenage sons. In his free time Dr. Westmoreland loves hunting, fishing, and golfing with his family and watching his boys play sports. Each fall he provides on-the-field coverage for an Austin area high school athletics program.
