Marc M. DeHart, MD is a Board Certified Orthopedic Surgeon. He is a specialist in the surgical treatment of arthritis of the hip and knee, but also enjoys general orthopedic surgery and sports medicine. Dr. DeHart holds a Certificate of Added Qualification in Sports Medicine. Dr. DeHart is distinguished as a Fellow of the American Academy of Orthopaedic Surgeons.
Dr. DeHart received a Biology Degree from the College of Natural Sciences at the University of Texas at Austin. He earned his Medical Degree from the Medical College of Virginia. Dr. DeHart completed his Orthopaedic Residency at the Wilford Hall USAF Medical Center in San Antonio, Texas. While on active duty with the United States Air Force, Dr. DeHart served as a F-16 Flight Surgeon for the 69th Tactical Fighter Squadron. After completing a Fellowship in Adult Hip and Knee Reconstructive Surgery at Johns Hopkins Hospital in Baltimore, he returned to San Antonio where, as a Clinical Assistant Professor of Orthopaedics, he instructed residents at both the Wilford Hall USAF Medical Center and the University of Texas Health Science Center.
Dr. DeHart is a member of the American Association of Hip and Knee Surgeons, Texas Medical Association, and Texas Orthopaedic Association. Dr. DeHart is an Assistant Professor for the University of Texas Medical Branch. He is the first orthopedic surgeon from the Austin, TX area to be inducted into the American Orthopaedic Association. Dr. DeHart serves on staff at area hospitals. He enjoys speaking on orthopedic related issues with local groups.
Dr. DeHart is happy to live in Austin again- the city where he met his wife. They have four children, two who attend the University of Texas in Austin.
