Preparing for Surgery

PRE-OPERATIVE APPOINTMENT:

At this appointment, your doctor will answer any questions you may have and you will be examined. Your doctor will check your heart, lungs, blood pressure, etc. to be sure that you are in good health and ready for surgery. At this time, you will also be given papers to take to the hospital when you pre-register.

At the time of your pre-registration appointment with the hospital, they will tell you when to arrive for surgery.  They will also tell you when to stop eating and drinking the night before your surgery. If you eat or drink after the appointed time to stop eating and drinking, your surgery will be CANCELLED, due to the increased risk of anesthesia complications.
