John A. Genung, MD is a Board Certified Orthopedic Surgeon. Dr. Genung is experienced in all facets of orthopaedic surgery, with a special interest in athletic injuries and total joint replacements. He has expertise in arthroscopy of the shoulder, knee, and ankle and extensive experience performing total knee and hip replacement surgery.
Dr. Genung earned his Medical Degree from the University of Texas Southwestern Medical School in Dallas. He completed his General Surgery Residency at Dallas Veterans Hospital and his Orthopaedic Surgery Residency at the University of Texas at San Antonio and Bexar County Hospital. Dr. Genung formerly served as team physician for the United States Naval Academy in Annapolis, Maryland.
Dr. Genung is an active member of the Texas Medical Association, Texas Orthopaedic Association, American Academy of Orthopaedic Surgeons, and Travis County Medical Society. He serves on the staff of most local area hospitals.
When Dr. Genung is not working, he enjoys spending time with his family, golfing, and watching Texas Longhorn football.
