Donald R. Davis, MD is a Board Certified Orthopedic Surgeon with more than 30 years of experience. Dr. Davis has a special interest in arthroscopic surgery of the knee, including anterior cruciate ligament (ACL) reconstruction and knee meniscus repair or menisectomy. He is highly trained in srthroscopic surgery of the shoulder, which includes arthroscopic rotator cuff repair and shoulder stabilization procedures. A large part of Dr. Davis's practice dedicated to fracture care and joint replacement surgery, including total knee replacement, unicompartmental knee replacement, and total hip replacement.
Dr. Davis earned his Bachelor of Science Degree in Biology from Beloit College. He received a Master Degree in Psychology from the University of North Dakota. Dr. Davis earned his Medical Degree from the University of Texas Health Science Center at San Antonio. His General Surgery Internship and Orthopedic Surgery Residency were completed at Bexar County Hospital in San Antonio, Texas, where he served as Chief Resident.
Dr. Davis joined Dr. John Genung in practice in Austin in 1977. Dr. Davis has served on multiple committees at Seton Medical Center, Bailey Square Surgery Center, and Brackenridge Hospital. Dr. Davis was the first Chief of Staff at Round Rock Community Hospital.
Dr. Davis practices at Seton Medical Center and Texas Orthopedic Surgery Center, and is on staff at most other local hospitals in the Austin area. His professional memberships include the Texas Medical Association, Texas Orthopaedic Association, Alamo Orthopaedic Society, American Academy of Orthopaedic Surgeons, and Travis County Medical Society. Dr. Davis has been named by his peers to the Super Doctors® list for the 8th consecutive year. Dr. Davis enjoys volunteering as the team physician for Saint Andrew's Episcopal School, where he previously was the girls' golf team coach.
Dr. Davis is a native of Indianapolis, Indiana. Dr. Davis and his wife Diane have three daughters and four grandchildren. He enjoys spending time with his family, playing golf, and is active in his church.
