Ai Mukai, MD is Board Certified in Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation, as well as Pain Medicine. Dr. Mukai's practice focuses on non-surgical musculoskeletal and spine care using conservative modalities such as physical therapy and injections. She also performs electrodiagnostic studies to diagnose nerve and muscle conditions that can cause pain, weakness, numbness, and tingling
After obtaining her Bachelor Degree in Psychology from Barnard College of Columbia University, she attended medical school at Penn State University. Dr. Mukai completed her Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation Residency at Northwestern University's Rehabilitation Institute of Chicago (rated number one in the country on US News & World Report), earning numerous academic and leadership awards. Her Pain Medicine Fellowship at the University of California, Los Angeles focused on advanced training in non-surgical spine care and interventional procedures, including implantable devices.
She has presented at national conferences and authored book chapters and articles. Dr. Mukai is the American Academy of Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation (AAPM&R) Membership Committee Chair. The American Academy of Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation is the national academy for the Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation specialty. As Chair of the Membership Committee, Dr. Mukai is one of the twelve voting members of the Board of Governors of the AAPM&R. AAPM&R is the largest organization of Physiatrists in the country with over 9,000 members representing over 7,500 board certified-Physiatrists.
In her free time, Dr. Mukai enjoys mentoring students and pursuing research. She enjoys traveling, sketching, and cooking.

Nurse Practitioner for Dr. Mukai

Kitty Woo Ham, RN, FNP-C is a board certified family nurse practitioner certified by the American Academy of Nurse Practitioners.
Ms. Woo-Ham is trained in diagnosing, managing, and treating patients with various medical problems. Ms. Woo-Ham has worked in the family practice setting, long-term care/nursing home setting as well as being a faculty member at the Austin Community College nursing program, and has worked in the hospital setting.
After obtaining her Bachelor Degree at Purdue University in West Lafayette, Indiana, she attended school at the University of Texas in Austin. Ms. Woo-Ham received her Masters in Nursing Management then went on to graduating with a Post-Masters Degree in the Family Nurse Practitioner Program.
In her free time, Ms. Woo-Ham enjoys spending time with her family, traveling, cooking and doing yoga.
